Role Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Underwriter to join our underwriting team. This remote entry-level position is ideal for individuals looking to start a career in underwriting and gain hands-on experience in evaluating risk, reviewing documentation, and supporting the underwriting process.

The Junior Underwriter will assist with evaluating title searches and preparing title commitments as well as other related title documents in accordance with local state and underwriter guidelines. The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, and able to manage a high volume of work while maintaining accuracy and a positive attitude.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assist in reviewing loan, title, and insurance documentation for completeness and accuracy
  • Respond to basic customer inquiries via phone, email, or fax in a timely and professional manner
  • Identify potential title issues and escalate as needed
  • Prepare simple title-related documents under supervision
  • Collaborate with internal departments, clients, and third parties to gather documentation and resolve minor issues
  • Maintain organized records and update internal systems with relevant data
  • Support senior underwriters in preparing files for final review and decision
  • Work efficiently to meet deadlines while maintaining quality standards
  • Participate in training and mentorship to build industry knowledge

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Basic understanding of the financial services or mortgage lending industry
  • Familiarity with underwriting principles and practices (preferred but not required)
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with title software is a plus (training provided)

  • Core Business Hours: 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM
  • Core Business Days: Monday through Friday
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
