Job Description

Primoris Pipeline is currently searching for an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to support a project in the Abilene/Haskell, Texas area.

Primoris is an infrastructure contractor serving major firms in the oil, gas, power, petrochemical, and heavy oil industries and include services covering tailings and hydro-transport pipeline construction and maintenance, storage tank construction and maintenance, industrial facilities multi-discipline construction and maintenance, piping fabrication, and pipeline integrity services.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensure repairs are carried out according to the manufacturer's procedures in a safe and responsible manner within the designated timeframe
• Interpret work orders and technical manuals
• Keep equipment clean, lubricated, and maintained
• Diagnose faults and malfunctions
• Troubleshoot and communicate equipment performance with mechanics
• Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure that the work done meets manufactures specifications and legislated regulations
• Write service reports in a timely and efficient manner
• Train and/or assist other technicians or apprentices
• Other duties as required by management

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience working on an industrial site is considered an asset, but not required
• Must have experience with CAT pipelayers
• 5+ years' experience with Caterpillar equipment
• Familiarity with pipeline equipment is an asset
• Able to think logically, problem solve, and keep up with changing technology
• Familiar with parts and service manuals
• Able to work well in a team environment
• Must be physically able to lift 50lbs and climb in/under units in the field
• Organized and self-motivated
